Who sends Profee transfers to Moldova in 2026
Back in 2023, we shared some insights about Moldovans in Europe. Three years later, we are uncovering updated statistics. Where do expats from Moldova live? Which devices do they use? How do they send money home? Read the article to find out.
How we got the data
To learn more about expats from Moldova, we collected generic depersonalised data from Profee clients. This data covers the period of January-April 2026. We disclose shares (in %) rather than exact numbers to make sure that the personal details of our clients stay private.

Age & gender of expats from Moldova
Those who send money to Moldova from Europe and the UK are mostly men, while the age of a typical Moldovan in the EU and the UK is between 25 and 45.
Males make up 75.8% of Moldovan expats sending money through Profee, which is 3.1% more than among all our clients in general is 3.1%. Therefore, there are slightly more men among Moldovans in Europe and the UK than among other expats.
The age difference is more distinctive: check out this table to see the exact share in per cent for each group in the first four months of 2026:

The numbers haven’t changed much since Profee’s previous research: in 2023, three quarters of the senders were male, and the biggest age group was from 25 to 44 years old.

According to Profee’s data, many Moldovans move to Germany, France, and Poland. Here are the shares for top 10 countries in the first four months of 2026:

Devices that expats from Moldova prefer
More than half Moldovans in Europe and the UK prefer Android phones over other devices for sending money home. This number is slightly higher than our average (56.6% and 53.25%, respectively). As for those using iPhones, the share of Moldovans using them is almost equal to that of Profee clients in general (36.85% and 36.88%).
The rest of our Moldovan clients send money home from their desktop or laptop computers. The web version remains a bit more popular among Moldovans than among Profee users overall (6.55% and 9.87%, respectively) — but, just like everywhere else, mobile is clearly winning the race.
The bottom line
Three years on, the portrait of a Moldovan expat in Europe and the UK hasn't changed much: it's most likely a man between 25 and 45, living in Germany, France, or Poland, sending money home from an Android phone. What has stayed constant is the reason behind these transfers — staying close to loved ones, no matter the distance. And at Profee, we're proud to make that connection a little easier.
