ChatGPT price in Germany: Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans

In Germany, ChatGPT is available from 0 up to 100 USD (around 87 EUR) per month, depending on how much you need it. The free plan covers everyday tasks like writing, translating, brainstorming, or getting quick answers. If you need more – higher limits, extra tools, and priority access – there are Go, Pro and Plus paid tiers to choose from.

ChatGPT prices in Germany

You can use ChatGPT for 0 EUR or switch to paid plans for 8, 20, 100 or 200 USD per month (7, 17, 87 and 173 EUR as of September 15th, 2026).

If you live in Germany, ChatGPT can be useful for very practical things: fixing the wording of a German email, understanding a letter, checking a Bewerbung, or preparing for an appointment. ChatGPT Free: basic chat and work

On the ChatGPT Free tier, you pay 0 EUR and can ask questions, write and rewrite text, translate messages, summarise information, and brainstorm ideas. You can also search the web, upload files and images, create images, analyse data, and use Think when you want ChatGPT to spend more time on a harder question.

For someone living in Germany, that can cover plenty of everyday jobs. You might ask ChatGPT to:

• polish an email to your landlord;

• explain a German letter in simpler language;

• check a Bewerbung;

• practise German before an appointment;

• compare information from a few sources;

• summarise a PDF;

• help plan a trip or organise a list of tasks.

The catch is the limits. Free users get lower allowances for files, images, data analysis, voice and other tools. These message limits aren’t fixed forever and may change as OpenAI updates its plans.

Free users currently get GPT-5.6 Luna – for everyday questions, this is enough. If you need access to advanced GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT Free tier doesn’t include it yet (as of September, 2026, verify plans on chatgpt.com). 

Free tier makes sense if: you use ChatGPT now and then, mostly for writing, explanations, translations, basic research or occasional files.

The reason to upgrade: you like what Free does, but you keep reaching its limits or need stronger models for harder work.

ChatGPT Go: more room for everyday use

ChatGPT Go costs 8 USD per month (around 7 EUR) and includes everything in Free but raises limits on image generation, file uploads, and data analysis. Your subscription renews monthly and can be cancelled at any time from your account settings.

Additionally, Go gives you access to projects, tasks, Library, more voice chats, video, and scheduled tasks. You also get a longer memory, so ChatGPT can keep more context across your conversations.

Go uses GPT-5.6 Luna, including for Think, and doesn’t support GPT-5.6 Sol (as of September, 2026, verify on chatgpt.com). 

Go makes sense if: you use ChatGPT regularly for everyday tasks and mainly want higher limits.

The reason to skip it: if your main reason for upgrading is better reasoning, coding or more advanced research, Plus fits better.

ChatGPT Plus: where the bigger upgrade starts

ChatGPT Plus costs 20 USD per month, or around 17 EUR at the current exchange rate, and it has access to stronger reasoning. The main difference from Go is advanced model access: Plus subscribers can use GPT-5.6 Sol with Medium and High thinking levels when tasks need deeper analysis.

Plus gives you broader access to tools used for longer or more demanding work:

• higher usage limits;

• more file uploads and analysis;

• expanded Deep Research;

• more image generation;

• more memory and context;

• projects and scheduled tasks;

• broader Codex access for coding;

• broader access to ChatGPT Work.

Let’s imagine you’re researching a topic for university. On Free, you might ask a few questions and upload a document. With Plus, you can upload several sources, compare them, ask follow-up questions and work through the results without running into limits as quickly.

The same goes for work. You can analyse spreadsheets, review long documents, research competitors, work on code or keep a larger project going over several conversations.

Plus makes sense if: you regularly use ChatGPT for work, university, research, coding or complex tasks.

The reason to stay on Go or Free: if you mainly write, translate, create images or upload the occasional file.

ChatGPT Pro: for people who depend on it for work

ChatGPT Pro starts at 100 USD per month, or around 87 EUR, and is aimed at people who need both the strongest models and much more usage. A monthly subscription at the tier gives you the most advanced model access available on ChatGPT.

Pro has higher reasoning levels and much larger allowances for Codex, Deep Research, image creation and memory. Pro subscribers can use GPT-5.6 Sol at Extra High reasoning and access Pro models, including GPT-5.6 Sol Pro and GPT-6 Pro.

In 2026, there are two Pro tiers:

• Pro 100 USD gives around five times the usage of Plus;

• Pro 200 USD / Pro 20X gives around twenty times the usage of Plus.

However, new subscriptions and upgrades to the 200 USD tier have been temporarily paused since September 10th, 2026. Existing Pro 200 USD users can keep and renew their plan. The 100 USD Pro plan is still available. 

Pro is for someone who is already using ChatGPT for hours at a time. A developer might use Pro for long coding sessions. A researcher may run repeated Deep Research tasks and work through large amounts of material. An analyst might use reasoning models, files and data tools throughout the day.

Pro makes sense if: ChatGPT is already one of your main professional tools and you regularly push Plus to its limits.

The reason to stay on Plus: for most people, Plus already covers a lot. If you are not hitting its limits, Pro is unlikely to give you extra value.

Free lets you try basic features, Go gives you more room to chat, Plus adds stronger reasoning and tools, and Pro is about maximum capability.
